About the Position

Job Summary: To coordinate and execute Commissioning/ Process Engineering Services as required by the business, within agreed constraints of time, cost and quality and problem solving at all levels.



  • Interpretation & Implementation of Client Requirements and Specifications
  • Process design development through careful selection of process treatment
  • technologies based on the business's design guidelines and good engineering practice,
  • providing cost-effective solutions whilst ensuring technical compliance with client
  • requirements
  • Represent the company during meetings with potential customers, vendors and
  • subcontractors
  • Functioning as part of a team under a Lead Engineer, interacting with mechanical,
  • draughting, civil, electrical and control systems engineering disciplines
  • Preparation of a basic engineering design package
  • Participating in HAZOP/HAZAN studies, value engineering exercises and design
  • reviews.
  • Preparation of a detail engineering design package consisting of Process Flow
  • Diagrams, Design Calculations and Mass & Energy Balances, Piping and
  • Instrumentation Diagrams, Equipment Schedules, Process Datasheets, etc.
  • Preparation of all process related Design Study documentation
  • Preparation of Technical Specifications of equipment for Request for Quotations and
  • Purchase Orders
  • Technical evaluation of vendor proposals
  • Technical clarifications with client
  • To arrange and co-ordinate any supplementary requirements from external
  • consultants, vendors or subcontractors
  • Commissioning planning assistance
  • Preparation of Performance Test Procedure, Commissioning Plan and Operating
  • Manuals
  • On site construction verification, punching and sign-off
  • Interpretation & implementation of client requirements and specifications w.r.t
  • commissioning.
  • Commissioning, including documentation preparation, pre-commissioning, cold- and
  • hot commissioning activities and trouble shooting
  • Performance testing and reporting
  • Interpretation & implementation of client requirements and specifications w.r.t
  • commissioning.
  • Operator training and compilation of training manuals (if required)
  • Provide mechanical assistance during commissioning.
  • Participate in punch walks with client and other engineering disciplines.
  • Keep up to date with latest technologies, design tools & guidelines and developments
  • inside the Group, in the water treatment field and from local / international
  • suppliers
  • To direct investigations into problem areas arising with work in the office and at site
  • and to endorse solutions
  • To ensure the implementation of company standards and develop and maintain a
  • reliable engineering base
  • To ensure the application and maintenance of departmental systems and procedures
  • Writing of technical reports

Quality, Health & Safety

  • Ensure health and safety legislation and contractual obligations pertaining to health &
  • safety are adhered to throughout the project.
  • Read and understand the ISO9001:2008 manual for the procedures pertaining to the
  • Engineering and Projects Division.

External Relations

  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, consultants and contractors on technical aspects
  • Interacts with partners and other companies in the group
  • Produce presentations and/or represent the company at trade fairs and seminars


  • a) Attend all training seminars pertaining to this position.
  • b) Perform any other duties required by your designated Lead Engineer or Project Manager.


  • Perform all duties to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standard Requirements
  • Function as part of a Team
  • Ensure total confidentiality of all information, internal and external, pertaining to the
  • business and all its Employees and Management
  • Perform all necessary computer functions
  • Communicate with clients in a professional manner


  • B.Sc or B.Eng (Chemical) graduate
  • ECSA Registration as a Candidate Engineer would be an advantage
  • Three to Five years experience as a Process/ Commissioning Engineer in water treatment, turnkey projects or a similar field
  • Communication and Organizational skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office)

You will be required to perform your duties at the East Rand Offices
